RUTrainingToday Cycle Club

RUTrainingToday Cycle Club was established in January 2012. We started a road race club, but now have members ranging from leisure cyclists, time-triallers, triathletes and sportive riders.  We also have junior and youth members, known as ‘Ruttweilers’.

In our first year we were the highest placed Plymouth based club in the regional road race rankings.  In 2013 we focussed on junior and youth cyclists and as a result two of our members were picked to represent the South West at the National School Games.

We are British Cycling and Cycling Time Trials affiliated and the only road cycle club in Plymouth to currently have Go-Ride status with fully qualified coaches (including a double World Champion) to help youths gain and develop bike handling skills.

Club runs

Official club runs are held on Saturdays and Sundays and the usual meeting place is slip road into The Plymouth Ski Centre at 9.00am. Information about club runs will be posted on the RUTTCC Facebook page, so please check this before turning up as at times during the race season no ride leaders are available.  Café stops will take place after the rides at the Ski Centre which is the designated club house.

Saturday rides tend to be slower and shorter than the Sunday rides and are open to youth riders over 12 years of age with parental consent.  We do have members who do not race and ride at a leisurely pace (12mph average) but do not currently have official rides for this, so if you are looking for someone slower to go out with please advertise on the Facebook page.  All members are welcome to post unofficial rides on the Facebook page too if they are planning on riding mid-week or Saturdays and want some company.

We also hold some youth training sessions (which adults are welcome to come along to) during the summer months on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Details of these are posted nearer the time.

During the winter months we offer turbo training sessions on a Tuesday night at the Ski Lodge.
